Your Wedding Day
The endless months of preparation finally come to an end on the day of your wedding and now is the time for you to sit back and relax and enjoy every moment of all your hard work and planning.
The best man (or woman) has a pivotal role to play on your wedding day – so don’t be afraid to use him to the full. Make sure you brief your best man in advance of all the on-the-day arrangements for who should be doing what and any special plans you have put in place.
It is the best man’s job to relieve the bride and groom of all the worries and pressures of those last minute arrangements, so let him get on with it and concentrate your efforts on getting ready for and enjoying the happiest day of your life!
As the bride, you will have the support of your family and bridesmaids as you get ready for the ceremony on the day. Your best man and ushers will take care of welcoming and seating guests at the church or civil ceremony so all you have to worry about is turning up on time!
As the groom, you will have the support of your family, best man and the ushers. Your ushers will seat guests at the church/ceremony and hand out order of service booklets. They will ensure, along with the best man, that all your guests know how to get to the reception after the marriage ceremony, if it is at a different location.
You will probably have spoken to your wedding photographer in advance about the different group shots you want on the day, but don’t forget that your best man can help round people up on the day.
If you are having a formal wedding breakfast, you may wish to greet and welcome your guests by organising a receiving line before the meal. This usually comprises the bride and groom with both sets of parents and the bridesmaids. Resist the urge to chat in-depth with all your guests as you could be there all day!
During the speeches you will have the opportunity to hand out any gifts you may have bought for your wedding party (traditionally the mothers of the bride and groom and the bridesmaids/page boys).
After the meal and the speeches are over, so too are the formalities. All that is left to do is for you and all your guests to thoroughly enjoy the rest of the day.
Make sure you take the time to have a few words with each and every one of your guests but don’t feel obliged to chat with them at length – they won’t expect this of you and will be happy just to have a quick moment with you to pass on their congratulations.
We hope your day is filled with love, laughter and happiness. Enjoy!
